Spring Organization Refresh!

Spring is right around the corner and it is always nice to do a deep dive into your home and de-clutter and organize! Last year the Sort and Sweet girls Mary and Margaret came over to help me reorganize my life and OMG it was amazing. Then covid hit and not only do I collect so much stuff because of my job, but I also had a lot of extra food and cleaning supplies. Because of my job as a blogger, I buy a lot more than the average person as well as getting product gifted to me. Living in an apartment with no storage, the walls close in quick! Some of the organization tips they implemented worked but some them didn’t, so we reevaluated and implemented some new things!

The spaces I use the most are my closet, she shed (or den), linen closet, and pantry. Those are the spaces that fill up the quickest! We focused on more storage in the closet and better use of the bins we had, more bins in the pantry, a better system for “eye sore” items in my she shed, and organizing of the linen closet. The girls went to the container store before they came and picked up some awesome things and headed my way!

Pantry

Before: Overcrowded, unorganized, lots of doubles because I couldn’t see what I had! I still had it categorized by what was in each bin but I ran out of room for sauces, condiments, and dressings.

After: more bins for more items, lazy Susans for bottled items, and a door organizer for grab & go snacks and smaller items. I love that I can see everything I have, makes it much easier when shopping and cooking. Last year we had 2 bins on each shelf turned long ways, so this time we turned them to maximize the space and add more bins.

Closet

Before: No more room, bedding in the basket is mismatched and unorganized, bins above being used for things I don’t reach for, just overflowing!

After: We got more Elfa bins to have more storage space for PJs, leggings, PJ sets, and sweatshirts. We used the bins above to organize my bedding by brand so when I make the bed I’m not digging through different sets of white sheets trying to find the matching brand. We moved my winter accessories into a basket so they are in one place and easy to reach for. If you look on the bar there are tags categorizing sweaters, pullovers, shirts, pants, dresses, and Lilly to help me stay organized.

Linen Closet

Before: towels a mess, no bins for extra products, no rhyme or reason.

After: towels folded nicely (makes a huge difference), different uses for some of the bins, organizing the products better, also making a covid bin consisting of wipes and sanitizer. Last time they came this was obviously non existent LOL. Also, yes that bin says Butt Stuff because that’s exactly what it is!

She Shed

Before: cluttered, misuse of space, STUFFED.

After: WAY better use of space. I rarely use my Cricut, as much as I would love to I just don’t have the time. The Cricut and the organizer bins filled with Cricut stuff went into storage until I have the space! I need that space for things I use everyday, so we got the Like It storage bins and the Like It bricks to hide those “eye sore” things like my hair tools, extra makeup, tech, and nail stuff. In the wire bins these things just looked like a mess. I needed storage for my shoes because while doing try ons they end up piling up and never make it back to the front closet because I need them. We also laid the 12×12 bins down to give me more space on top and it doesn’t take up any window space. It is so much more organized and I LOVE how everything looks.

For my desk and work area they picked me up a really cute file cabinet (never thought those words would come out of my mouth) to help me organize paperwork for my business and personal! It is the perfect size for my desktop and easy access for me to grab.

Under the Kitchen Sink

Before: One word, MESS. I just threw things under there and it just became out of control!

After: Everything has a place, I can see my extra sponges, catagorized by use. So much easier to see what I have (aka buying multiple dish soaps when I already has some open) and not having to dig through products to find things.
