Our Trip to Lake George

This year has been a crazy one to say the least! As my 27th birthday was approaching I knew I wanted to go somewhere, but I wasn’t sure where. I kind of let the idea go, but then I refreshed Airbnb and a rare find came up that someone cancelled last minute! It was a cute little cabin on Lake George, NY and it was perfect! We went with no plans in mind besides to relax and enjoy ourselves.

We woke up and went right down to the dock every morning, I drank coffee and read, and Jared fished. It was so wonderful! The night we got there we went to Georges Steak House for dinner, it was last minute but it ended up being really good! Sunday we spent the morning on the dock then went up to Ticonderoga. I have only seen Ticonderoga in the winter time so it was so beautiful to see in the Summer. We went to the Wind Chill Factory for dinner and Ice Cream, it’s a little outdoor stand but they have the best food and soft serve.

Monday we woke up and headed north to Lake Placid which is one of our favorite spots. It is about an hour and 40min from Lake George. We decided to hike Mt. Jo, be warned there is a “short” way and a “long way”. The short way is .9 miles and the long way is 1.1 miles. I figured the shortest way would be the easiest but I was wrong! It was basically straight up rock climbing up the mountain, it was tough. We made it though and ended up taking the long way down and it was MUCH easier. No rocks, more roots and gradual.

After the hike we were tired and hungry and made it to our favorite restaurant Smoke Signals. It’s in downtown Lake Placid and is so good! Unfortunately Tuesday came too quick and we were headed home, we ended up stopping at Slices in downtown Lake George and the pizza was actually delicious!

It was so nice to get away and just “be” with each other. We laughed and talked about the future and it was the best birthday weekend! There is so much to do in the Adirondacks and you don’t have to be near any people if you don’t want to! We felt safe every where we went.

Unfortunately our Air Bnb is sold out for the next 2 years but there are tons of options in Lake George!

Thanks so much for reading!
