Our Fall Trip to Vermont

Last year Jared and I wanted to go up north in October and see the Fall foliage, we decided on Lake Placid in the Adirondacks! I couldn’t get off work until the last weekend so that’s when we went! Unfortunately almost all the leaves were down and it snowed the entire time…fail. We still made the best of it and had a blast. This year I thought I was on top of it in August and went to book and Airbnb in the beginning of October up there and literally everything was booked (in my price range). I was so upset, I then remembered my neighbors and family friends from home had a house up in Vermont by Okemo. I reached out to her and no one was going to be there that weekend AND we could bring the pups so it was perfect!

Unfortunately their house is not available for rent but I HIGHLY suggest if you want to book a trip in the Adirondacks or Vermont in early October…book an airbnb in the spring! That way you have options and different price ranges!

We stayed in Weston Vermont which is about 15 min from Okemo and 40 min from Killington which is where I grew up going. I started skiing when I was 2 and we went up there as a family every year for a week or two ski vacation. Since we took the dogs this time it was hard to do a lot of the things I wanted to do but we still had so much fun and did a ton.

Must see places:

-Vermont Country Store

-Drive to the top of Okemo (only in the fall and spring)

-Gondola to the top of Killington

-Any Brewery (popular ones are the Alchemist, Long Trail, Burlington Brewery, and more)

-Go to Woodstock for the day

-Go to Ben & Jerrys

-Go to the Von Trap house

Places we ate:

-The New American Grill (6/10)

-The Pizza Stone (10/10)

-Mildreds Grill (10/10)

-Tacos Tacos (6/10)

-American Pie (5/10)

Honestly just driving around getting lost in the foliage is the best! We did that a few times and found the prettiest ponds and lakes!

Again I suggest booking a stay earlier the better as this is their busy season! Everyone wants to go see the leaves so if you want the best deal its probably better to book early!

I hope this helps!
